Innovation power is the skill of an enterprise to react to changes in society. Successfully organizing new and appreciated offer-strategies. The executives in the sector are mostly technical experts and they do not have the innovation competence automatically. How to develop entrepreneurship, commercial skills and organization psychological insight?

Entrepreneurship, seeing chances and daring to break with hindering paradigms are the keys to renewal. There are curbing opinions and habits at all company levels. Management should take care, with pride and insight in its own power, that employees open their windows. Space to play needs to be created to give way to creativity, diversity, different opinions and entrepreneurship. Such ambiance is stimulated by inspiring leadership and by a reward- system that appreciates initiative and spirit.

Innovating, the developing, transferring and improving offer-strategies, must be one coherent part of the daily routine. Permanent evaluation of experiences (both in market and in practice) feeds a cyclic process, which is broadening and renewing knowledge and experience. The introduction of risk management and knowledge-based management are ways to grow.

When many things go wrong, much can be learned. In the building sector it appears to be difficult to learn one’s lesson. The unique way of working for each project makes it difficult to see a structure in the multitude of experiences. Causes can also be found in other parts of the chain (by other participants) or even outside the chain (government, surroundings). By standardization and long lasting partnerships the learning process gets more possibilities. Chances for e-learning and in-company education programs arise. Guarding the company’s policy and not allow yourself to be disturbed by projects the market may come along with, is the condition.

The competence of renewal has to grow. That development process can be divided in phases: from knowing (awareness) and wanting (direction and support) to being able (learning) and doing. Several ingredients are available to reinforce innovation competence: presentations, courses, good practices, guides and workshops.
